SuperValu is part of Musgrave SuperValuCentra, the retail franchise division of the Musgrave Group, Ireland’s largest grocery and food distributor. Founded in 1876, the Musgrave Group has grown to become one of Ireland’s biggest privately owned companies. Family owned and run, the Musgrave Group also operates a Cash and Carry division in Ireland and a wholesale business in Spain. In 2002 the group also acquired the Budgens chain of 200 stores mainly located in the South East of England.
Our People
While Musgrave SuperValuCentra employs 1,300 people directly, a further 15,000 people are employed by SuperValu franchises throughout the country. Local ownership ensures that all SuperValu stores operate as a truly integral part of the communities they serve, while at the same time offering that very community the benefits of a large, national retail group.
Our Suppliers
SuperValu is proud of its Irish heritage and demonstrates this fact in a very practical way with Irish companies producing over 70% of all SuperValu stocked products. Indeed when local distributors are included, over 90% of our goods are sourced on the island of Ireland.
